The purpose of this seminar is to discuss some advanced concepts in computer networking. This course is a research seminar (6 ECTS, 2 SWS), held on a weekly base and comprising the following components:
The purpose of this seminar is to discuss some advanced concepts in mobile communication. Each week we will select several fancy papers from some top tier conferences/journals. Students are supposed to read the papers ahead of time and give your review of each paper. The aim of the course is to help the early stage MS/PhD students to develop the required skills of research as well as to get your hand wet on the cut-edge work on mobile communications.

We are primarily going to cover the following topic in our seminar:
The material in the seminar, drawn mainly from the research literature from top tier journal/conference, like ToN, TPDS, SIGCOMM, SIGMETRICS, IMC, WWW, CoNEXT. The seminar topics include the following:
* Smart phones, mobile cloud computing
* Cloud Computing and Data Center Networking (Infrastructure, Systems, Applications)
* Energy issues with mobile computing
* Online Social Networking (Architecture, User Behavior, Data Collection, Data Analysis)
* Use cases, applications (location tracking, wireless network planning, crowd-sourcing)
* DTN, opportunity networking and mobile social networks
