Project Work:

- Focus of this project is to build on the verticals and try to address the Northbound Interfaces and high level frameworks to adapt, manage and orchestrate different VNFs.
- Study primarily involves understanding the following:
   a) Map the ETSI NFV architectural framework.
   b) OpenStack Framework[1] support for Management and Orchestration of Network Functions (MANO). Primarily the Horizon, Tacker and NOVA components: to understand what aspects are dealt and how they interact.
   c) OPNFV[2] Framework and support for MANO

Goals:

- Understanding ETSI NFV framework.
- Comparative study on How Openstack and OPNFV build an ETSI aligned NFV platform.
- What are the necessary MANO API’s at different levels (both Northbound and SouthBound) and what standardized API’s for different interactions with SDN Controller, NF Manager, Network Function etc.
- Identify the open issues, and then potentially define and propose some updates and enhancements.
