Currently, Online Social Networks (OSNs) are usually controlled by a central service provider (e.g., Facebook, Google+, Twitter, ...). As a result of this situation, all user data and communication between the users is subject to inspection by the service provider. To provide better user privacy, researchers have recently suggested distributed social networks with a wide range of implementations, which however bring along their own drawbacks.

In this work, the goal is to implement a novel approach to distributed social networking (Master thesis phase). Before starting the implemenation, as a first step (student project phase), a feasibility study is to be completed.

Very good implementation skills (advanced knowledge of JAVA and/or Python is required) are required for this project.
