Project Description

There are two ways of representing the data about the research going in an area of science. Either by defining it as the collaboration between the researchers or as the citation order in which papers references each other. Such networks follow the power law distribution, that is small number of high degree node and large number of lower degree node. The researcher having a high collaboration density can be thought of as active and key researcher in the field. But the citation network also indicates the impact of the research. So by using the tools for the analysis of networks we can define various characteristic of network like active researcher, relevant paper, paper list in the research topic.

The objective of the work is to mining the most influential person and publication in a specific area. It requires a few user inputs, such as some keywords or the title of several papers, and output the most influential researchers and paper list. It intends to help researcher to identify the authorities in the research area, to help the less experienced researchers to find the most relevant publication on a specific research topic, and to analyze the trend of research domain.
